‘.I’m a Photographer not a Terrorist Flashmob, London 4th July 2010.’ On 30th June, the European Court of Human Rights rejected the governments appeal to it’s decision in January that ruled Section 44 of the Terrorism Act 2000 in breach of Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights. Although the Home Office has said it is still considering how the ruling effects the law and the police will continue to use it. It’s possible that any Stop & Search under s44 since 12th January 2010 will be open to legal challenge, so hang on to any receipts. Unfortunately there are still a swathe of laws that police use to harass photographers, most notably s43, which is similar to s44 but requires an officer to suspect that you are a terrorist and s76 which makes it illegal to ‘elicit information about a police officer’ which includes photographing them. In the meantime we’re going back to the place where our campaign started, outside New Scotland Yard. We’ll be gathering at 12 noon, this Sunday 4th July (Independence Day!) Come along and lets celebrate a little more freedom for photographers. We must work together now to stop this before photography becomes a part of history rather than a way of recording it. photographernotaterrorist.org.

‘.SmarTrend Market Close Wrap-Up: August 6th, 2010.’ Themajor US equity indices closed lower Friday following a disappointing jobs report and as investors try to get a feel for how bad the slowdown in economic growth is going to be. . The Labor Department reported that private sector payrolls rose by an estimated 71000 during the month, weaker than economists’ expectations for a rise to 100000. Total nonfarm payrolls fell by a seasonally adjusted 131000 in July, but the lost jobs were attributed to the temporary US Census jobs. The unemployment rate held steady at 9.5%. In order for the unemployment rate to be driven down further, economists said that about 200000 private sector jobs would need to be added each month. In corporate news, Hewlett-Packard (NYSE:HPQ) Chairman, CEO and President Mark Hurd decided to resign his positions, effective immediately, following an investigation by outside legal counsel and the General Counsel’s Office of the facts and circumstances surrounding a sexual harassment claim by a former contractor to the company. The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJI) closed 0.20% lower at 10653.56, the S&P500 (INX) closed 0.37% lower at 1121.64, and the Nasdaq Composite (IXIC) closed 0.20% lower at 2288.47..

‘.HP Customer Escalations admits they have no liability when they dispatch your faulty products.’ HP Customer Escalations admits they have no liability when they dispatch your faulty products. They accept that if it takes them 4 months or a year to send out your replacement parts they are not accountable or held liable, you as the consumer or business is. They even try to blame the courier, who thankfully I had already called and advised me HP has never contacted them regarding any good orders. This person was calling on behalf of the CEO email I submitted: Subject: RE: Feedback to CEO and President Mark Hurd from James Morris Message: “On behalf of Hewlett-Packard we apologize for the delay and difficulties you are experiencing. Your message has been forwarded to our Customer Escalation team who will review your case. Thank you, CEO Customer Relations”.

‘.HP Customer Escalations on behalf of CEO and President Mark Hurd – HP abide by their own laws.’ After having a dispute with HP with my Laptop, the Customer Escalation member called me to advise that despite being lied to regarding delivery of my product, that I would have to wait 20 days. When asked if they would be willing to offer my battery replacement for my weeks of hell trying to get no where supposedly, the representative of HP claims they do not abide by EU Laws, and that HP HASTHEIR OWN LAWS!! WHAT!?! This the company thousands of consumers and businesses spend millions of pounds with, claiming that HP do not comply with local laws, as they follow their own self made laws. They refuse to to take any accountability for their faults, and believe they can send me parts 1 year late and not be responsible for this. So before you purchase your HP laptop, or extended warranty, beware that by doing so, you have to comply with the HP Law, because they don’t give a damn about any local laws or statutory rights!.
